Two researchers from the Biofisika Institute among Spain’s most influential female scientists

The Biofisika Institute (CSIC, EHU) celebrates the inclusion of Alicia María Alonso Izquierdo and Mónica Carril in the 2026 national ranking of female researchers in Spain, compiled using indicators of scientific impact and international visibility.

This ranking, promoted by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), identifies researchers with highly influential scientific output, using standardized bibliometric indicators such as the number of citations, the h-index, and open science metrics. The analysis is based on data from Google Scholar and OpenAlex, always drawn from public and verifiable profiles.

The inclusion of both IBF researchers in this ranking highlights a well-established scientific career, sustained over time and with international reach, as well as their ongoing contribution to the advancement of knowledge in their respective fields of research.

At the Biofisika Institute, we reaffirm our commitment to scientific excellence, the impact of research, and the visibility of research talent, and we particularly value initiatives that recognize and highlight women’s contributions to science.
