Mónica is recognized for her contributions to the preparation of customized water-soluble fluorinated nanoparticles with MR properties and their applications in 19F MRI or protein corona detection. Mónica received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and did her PhD at the same university. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow at RWTH Aachen and TUM, and a Juan de la Cierva Fellow and Ikerbasque Research Fellow at CIC biomaGUNE. Her research work has been published in prestigious journals, including Nature Communications or Angewandte Chemie International Edition.
