Short bio

Ion Andreu is an Ikerbasque Research Fellow and group leader of the Cell and Tissue Mechanobiology group. He is interested in understanding how cells transduce and integrate their mechanical context, regulating processes as malignancy, invasion or development. Ion obtained his PhD under the supervision of M.R. Elizalde (Tecnun, Spain), studying the relationship between extracellular matrix structure and stiffness. He received postdoctoral training under the mentoring of Pere Roca-Cusachs (Ibec, Spain), studying how forces regulate nucleocytoplasmic transport. His work has been published in prestigious journals as Cell, Nature Cell Biology and Nature Materials.
