Researcher Ignacio Arganda-Carreras Wins the Data Analysis in Imaging (DAIM) Award

Dr. Arganda-Carreras is a world-renowned figure in the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning methods applied to bioimaging, with a significant impact on the international scientific community. Among his most notable contributions is his role as co-founder of Fiji, an open-source software platform widely used for biomedical image analysis.
His research focuses on the development of advanced computational tools for the processing and analysis of biomedical images, with a strong commitment to open science and knowledge transfer. Throughout his career, he has trained a large number of researchers in the use of deep learning and machine learning techniques applied to bioimaging, and has developed numerous software extensions that remain widely used and serve as the basis for new developments.

Ignacio Arganda-Carreras is an Ikerbasque Research Associate Professor, affiliated with the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of the Basque Country (EHU), and conducts his research in close collaboration with the Biofisika Institute and the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) in Donostia-San Sebastián.
