Bilbao to Host International Bunyavirus 2026 meeting from July 8–10

The Bizkaia Aretoa in Bilbao, Spain, will host the Bunyavirus 2026 meeting from July 8 to 10, 2026, bringing together researchers from around the world to discuss the latest advances in bunyavirus research. The event aims to strengthen scientific exchange and foster collaboration within the bunyavirology community.

Dr. Juan Fontana, group leader of the Structural biology of virus-host interactions laboratory of the Instituto Biofisika, is part of the meeting's organizing committee.

In response to feedback from the 2024 edition, the organizers have extended the meeting by an additional day to increase opportunities for interaction, networking, and collaborative project building.

The conference will feature several distinguished speakers. Amy Hartman, from the Center for Vaccine Research at the University of Pittsburgh (USA), Elisabeth Fichet-Calvet (BNITM, Germany) and Christian T. Happi (Redeemer's University, Nigeria / Harvard University, USA).

The program will offer numerous opportunities for both junior and senior scientists to present their research, alongside dedicated poster sessions.

Registration and abstract submission are now open, and thanks to support from the Federation of European Microbiology Societies (FEMS), the event will offer bursaries for Early Career Scientists.
