Short bio

Arturo Muga is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), and a member of the Biofisika Institute. He obtained the PhD degree from the University of the Basque Country and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Research Council (NRCC, Canada). Arturo has supervised over 13 PhD students in his career. He has participated in more than 40 regional, national and international research projects, publishing 100+ papers, some in recognized journals as Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, Nucleic Acids Research, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. His current research interest focuses on the capacity of the protein machinery known as the human disaggregase to remodel protein aggregates and fibers related to neurodegenerative disorders, and on the functional association of the molecular chaperones that build this macromolecular complex.
